Humana joins with Kansas City area organizations to address food insecurity

Knowing that food security is a vital social need in the Kansas City area, Humana worked with partner  organizations to create a monthly mobile food distribution at Kansas City Kansas Community College that will help families receive some needed support. The YMCA of Greater Kansas City and Harvesters, the food bank serving Kansas City’s 26-county area in northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas, oversee the mobile distribution and say all in need are welcome to participate.

As the pandemic continues to affect employment and strain individuals and families, the Y program addresses a growing need for those unsure where their next meal will come from.

Participants stay in their vehicles while volunteers load fresh produce, canned goods and a variety of other non-perishable items into their vehicles.
